Knightdale is located on the eastern side of Wake County in central North Carolina, part of what is know locally as the 'Triangle Region'. It is just 6-miles east of downtown Raleigh, the Capital of NC. It is an attractive, thriving community and its citizens enjoy the comfort and security of living within a small community, but are able to take advantage of the benefits of living close to the major metropolitan Triangle area.

An easy commute to Raleigh on I-540 or I-440, Knightdale has become a popular option for Triangle homebuyers. There are many established neighborhoods such as Mingo Creek and Planters Walk, but also many new communities such as Brookfield Station and Knightdale Station. It is an active and engaged small community and its residents love the ever-expanding park and greenway system, and its vital arts community. Its location makes it a convenient bedroom community for those employed in nearby Raleigh, and Knightdale has experienced rapid growth over the last couple of decades. However, local families say it still maintains its small-town charm and sense of community, and offers an excellent quality of life.

Local Shopping and Amenities:
Knightdale has plenty of shopping, healthcare and fitness opportunities located right in the community and just a short drive from most neighborhoods,. You will find all the “big-box” stores such as Dick’s Sporting Goods, Kohl’s, TJ Maxx, Best Buy, Petsmart, Homes Depot and Lowes Hardware, as well a great variety of restaurants and local business and shops. Wake Med Health Campus is also located just 4 miles down US-64 Business/New Bern Road and you will find Rex Wellness Center right off I-540. There are also plenty of local doctors offices and medical services in the community.

Schools:
Knightdale is located in Wake County and is part of the Wake County Public School System. There are also local options for private and charter schools including Thales Academy.

Mingo Creek Greenway Trail:
Brookfield Station has direct access to the Mingo Creek Greenway Trail, a 3.4 mile paved surface trail connecting the town of Knightdale from Mingo Creek Park to the 26-mile Neuse River Trail, just north of Anderson Point Park in Raleigh, NC. Along its 3.4-mile paved surface, you will pass some residential areas of Knightdale and ride through wooded areas and across long boardwalks over wetlands.

Knightdale State Park:
The community is also less than 1 mile from the 76-Acre Knightdale Station Park, recently developed by the town of Knightdale. This beautiful new park includes 2-miles of paved trails, picnic shelters, open air structures, a dog park, athletic fields, restrooms and a large playground. Many events are hosted at the park including a farmers market, movies-on-the-lawn, athletic events, local music and entertainers and holiday events such as 4th of July Fireworks.

Construction begins in 2017 for a water-misting tower, amphitheater, a veteran’s memorial plaza, additional parking and a promenade. The town also has plans for a village style shopping center adjacent to the park with restaurants and shops in the not-too-distant future.

The YMCA and Aquatics Center at Knightdale Station offer a wide variety of programs and services. A Full YMCA facility will be built in the near future sitting on about 8 acres of land when completed.
